Hi

to everyone. My name is Federico Zanetti and i'm Italian. I live outside Bologna, in Northern Italy. I post the pictures from my last 1/72 diorama. It's entitled “Relief force” and it represents the 6th SS Panzer Corps attempting to break the siege of Budapest.

the diorama depicts a short planning briefing in a  SS “Kampfgruppe” before starting an attack run to soviet lines.

the AFV in the scene are a StuH 42 from the old ESCI/ITALERY kit, a Stug III from Revell kit and a Marder III M built on scratch from the Pz. 38 (t) ATTACK ; the staff car is a Tatra also from ATTACK.

the scene is developed around an open country road, along with some swamp in which a destroyed SU 100 lies abandoned. On the other side, the edge of a wood.

the figures in the scene are from different ranges: Preiser, Warrior, MiG.

I hope You enjoy it. Advices, comments would be appreciated. Sorry for my poor English. Good morning to everyone.

Federico

Benvenuto Federico!

Very Nice work, detail level is so good that looks like a 1/35 diorama set!

Hope you could enter the 'Desert wars' contest!

Ciao,
Franco

Good morning, lads!

thanks for appreciating my diorama.. I agree with Elco, the terrain is not the way I would depict it ; there are light shadows create with dry brushing but is not very clear..the glossy finish of wet mud is very flat..not so good.

these are some other photos which describe a few the making of the landscape of the dio:

The wood is created from some little trees of “ginepro” a common plant (from which is made the GIN!!wink) on the mountains around my city and the “BAUSCH NATUR BAUME”, the dry leafs bed under the woods are made from HEKI coloured sawdust. The dry grass is made from Poseidonia debris found on the beaches of Tuscany, the reeds are made from the “Saggina” little brooms use for decorate houses in this Christmas age.

in this photo the wreck of a SU 100 from UM Models with EXTRA-TECH photo etched grills and engine cowling and fuel tank supports. Finally I changed the water color in green because is more realistic for a marsh then added a rusty barrel..

I painted the SU with a winter battered camouflage as it appears in the painting guide of 1/72 DRAGON SU 100, but very few portion of it you can see in the rusty and blackened hull.

this is the MARDER III M scratch built from ATTACK Pz.38(t) kit some years ago (five or six years ago..) Originally I intended put it on a Normandy diorama, and painted in a three tone camouflage with the markings of the 12th SS Panzer Division. I rebuilt wheels and tracks from these of an UM Pz. 38(t) kit and then added a winter camouflage over-spraying TAMYIA  white with use of MASKOL covered catches.

The last photo depicts the rear of the StuH 42, with a Fujimi 1/76 BMW R 75 motorcycle, super detailed with cables, levers, pedals and so on. Thanks again for appreciating my work, I've built in an year of work. Have a nice day to every one laugh2

Again great work, love the last pics. Everything look very realistic.

I think that some mudtone washes wil do the trick for the mud. First some light brown and after it is dry some darker colors (but stil some lighter than te “basic color).

But even when you leave it this way… great

Very very good for a 1/72 scale! youaretheman

Elco is right indeed. You should make a more varied tone for the mud. umhh
