Military Modelcraft - November 2011

As always, each issue of MMI has very interesting material to read. Browsing through the November issue the first thing we find is the People’s Liberation Army SUV: BJ022JC Yongshi 0.5 tonnes. This 1/35 kit is produced by Hobby Boss.

The author , Karl N. Hoi, painted the vehicle with the People’s Liberation Army  blue Navy scheme,  in my personal opinion due to  this choice  the final result of the kit looks too ‘plastic’, something like a Barbie and Ken toy.  It misses the ‘metal’ effect that a military vehicle transmits…

‘V is for ?’… Vickers ! a small tank but very well done come from David Grummit and Mike Stevenson. The British Mk.VIB light tank produced by Vulcan gets a good review as it goes assembled together very well . The authors have only made ??small changes and decorated the model with few accessories making it perfectly balanced.  Also excellent weathering.

Abilio Pineiro Grajera guides us in a small but interesting step by step on a Chars B1 Bis, the results are good, shame about the brevity of the article. Would have deserved more space.

Instead the article on “The ultimate challenge (r)” is quite long and detailed.  Mark Howard updates the Trumpeter kit with Cromwell Models products. Meanwhile Olaf Kievit follows with an interesting photo report (and article) about the Challenger 2 TES. A combination really interesting that the reader can not escape from being read.

Big things are always really interesting? In this case it seems so, not only for the size itself but also for the careful work done by Anthony Guarderas. We are talkin about a fantastic built and weathered US Army M26 with both tractor and trailer loaded with a LCM-3!  My opinion can only be very positive and I invite you to take a look at this masterpiece. No need of additional words.

Out of view of the Second World War we jump in 60′ with the British Military Transport Vehicle the Stalwart produced by Accurate Armour. The article, written by Brian Murdoch, is very interesting to read, covers both the historical part and the technical part concerning the implementation of the model. If your idea is build such a model I strongly recommended to read the article, you will find lots of interesting information and useful tips as the model is quite particular.

Finally we have two articles. The former is a German Army Tiger I made ??by Steve Shrimpton. Excellently produced by combining the Dragon with the Revell kit, worthy of note are the damages from enemy weapons fire. Less convincing, however, the realization of the figures, in particular skin.

Last is a small diorama with a Soviet Aerosan sled. Despite simplicity and smallness, the diorana is a small artwork. Congratulations to Ian Duthie.
