Military Modelcraft: August 2011 Review

Military Modelcraft August Issue has been  designed to suit all tastes.

Starting with an out of the box Bronco Archer 17 pdr SPG, Mike Stevensons draws out a very simple but effective model. There are also 2 pages of interesting 1:1 walk-around photos.  The ‘Thinking Out of the Box‘ section of Military Modelcraft is a nice place for young modellers to read, study and replicate steps.  It should be enriched with more work in progress photos…

What comes next, in my opinion, is the best production of Military Modelcraft August issue: “The Retreat – Russia 1944” done by Noel Petroni brings to life a diorama rapresenting German forces retreating from the overwhelming Soviet counter-attacks.  As the Author states the scene depicts a depressing moment of retreat in the winter of 1944. A Wespe and a dozen of soldiers compose the entire scene. A fair number of photos are published.

Second place rank to Zack Sex and Military Modelcraft Editorial Team. The first for reproducing a T62 in Afghanistan and the latter for a deep article focusing on such vehicle.  Assad with Grummit in the ‘Armour in Profile‘ take a complete review on the 1:1 scale vehicle while J. Murphy provides a nice set of photos. As usual the ‘Armour in Profile‘  contains a full series of  tank camo schemes ( very inspiring! ).

On the same issue of Military Modelcraft Rick Lawler build up Dragon’s new Pak 40/4 RSO and W.Zimmermann with Peter Muller build an hybrid StuG III Ausf A2. Both production are of an high level as we usual but the Pak 40/4 gets an additional star over the StuG as the article presents more photos and for the base and figure work.
