Military Modelcraft International: April 2011

Military Modelcraft International: April 2011 issue has just landed on AFV’s Desk.

Since this issue, MMI, has a new designer: Lincoln Rodriguez, and now they seem to have gained  more impact on reader’s eye.

Along the new changements this issue is presenting projects by some Very Important Modellers (VIMs!):  Anthony  Guarderas, Mig Jimenez, Jon Murphy, Luciano Rodriguez , Josè Luis Lopez Ruiz and Gunner Baumer.

As usual contents and editorial line are mastered by David Grummit. I have to say that topic selections of this issue are very well balanced and AFV’s presented is not the ‘usual’ stuff.

Now, just to mention briefly some contents:

John ‘Spud’ Murphy presents his ‘souped-up’ Pershing. I was particulary amazed by the bow armors with all torch-cut  effects , weldings and steel oxidation. As I have worked for over 10 years in heavy industry I can say they are very realistic. Bravo!

Red Ball Express is Gennar Baumer’s work. An incredible 1/35 diorama with a Des Kit Autocar U 8144T tractor and a 10Ton trailer full of boxes. The project is set in France during 1944. Loads of photos are presented. An Original and uncommon work.

An Old Skool Tiger is made by Josè Luis lopez Ruiz using Dragon’s 6262 kit out of the box using basic techniques. The article  could be a nice and simple guide for beginners while Dragon kit 6262 could also be replaced by the 6600 or any other Tiger tank.

THE BIG STAR of the issue is the M1070 HET Tank Transporter. You can admire this 1/35 masterpiece along a Varja Miniatures D9 Dozer or a Buffalo. Wow.

Dirty Diana, is the well-known Mig’s Bronco Models Diana Sd.Kfz 6/3 we have seen on the web in the latest months. With the only and big difference that now we have a lot of weathering and Dirtying step by step photos. I have to say that there is always something to learn from master Jimenez.

A Sherman Crab conversion with loads of modifications was task for Glenn Bowen, while Luciano Rodriguez hands have build a 1/48 KV 2 monster with winter camo and  interesting weathering.

Well Done!
