Dragon: 7.5cm PaK 40/4 auf RSO Review

Dragon has produced an exciting new 1/35 scale kit of this fascinating specialist vehicle. Apart from the 7.5cm antitank gun, the rest of the kit is brand new. Just like German engineers before them, Dragon was able to fit its existing gun kit onto a new platform! The chassis comes as a single component to ensure correct alignment and ease of assembly.

The vehicle is actually quite small, but this doesn’t mean it lacks detail. In fact, it is brimming with interior detail such as the gearbox, driver’s compartment, engine and transmission. The gun platform is fully represented along with the new gun mount. The construction allows modelers to traverse the gun in any direction. The road wheels are produced to scale thickness, over which the specially designed RSO Magic Tracks are fixed.

The Pak 40 is a familiar item and comes with three different styles of muzzle brakes, two different cradle caps, and a thin two-part gun shield with a brass rider plate for the central slot. The new mount is built up from 14 separate parts and mounts through the body to the subframe. The sides may be installed in either travel (up) or combat (down) positions as can the travel lock.

The one dumb thing in the directions is that DML shows the “Magic Tracks” assembled (67 links per side) and simply slipped onto the running gear. Not gonna happen. Most modelers know there are many ways to skin this mule but this is NOT one of them without DS plastic one-piece tracks.

A129 - Oil/Fuel Drums (Qty-12) – A 1/35th scale resin set of rather nice and useful Oil/Fuel or even Chemical Drums (Qty-12). BTW most real drums have a single weld seam down one side, this is replicated on these barrels. Master model by Rob Tearle.
